He was born February 11, 1948, in Harrisburg, Ill., to Alan Ray and Edna Lucille (Mortis) McKendree. He worked as a server in the Food Service Industry for most of his life. He en- joyed working in the yard and with flowers. He also enjoyed time spent with his grandkids and great-grand- kids. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Kel- ly) McKendree, of Mont- gomery, and LaVona McK- endree, of Ashdown, Ark.; son, Allen (Scott) McKen- dree Palmer; sister, Wilma (Bob) Harper; grandchil- dren, Zach McKendree, No- ah Scott, Skylar Newton, Matthew McKendree, Lucas Irby, and Jaxon McKendree; three great-grandchildren; and caregiver and long-term friend, Charles Ellis. She was born June 13, 1946, in Ecorse, Mich., the adopted daughter of Ar- thur and Blanche (Harrier) Shunk. She graduated from St. Louis Michigan High School Class of 1964. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Lansing, Mich., attending Davenport Col- lege. She resided in Harri- son, Mich., since 1987, com- ing from Lansing. Previous to her retirement from Clare County Prosecuting Attor- ney Office, she worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mar- keting Department, in Lan- sing. She was passionate about playing the piano, singing, crocheting and her flow- ers. On October 29, 2010, in Spurgeon, Elaine was unit- ed in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Ray- mond L. Brooks. She is survived by her loving husband, Ray; her daughter, Michelle (McAl- lister) (Scott) Stough, of Clare, Mich.; her son, David (Nadera) McAllister, of Wa- tertown, N.Y.; three stepchil- dren, John (Lynn) Brooks, of East Tawas, Mich., Den- nis Brooks, of Spurgeon, and JoAnne (Brooks) (Ken) Akin, of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ar- thur and Blanche Shunk, of the St. Louis/Alma area. RODNEY BRENTON Rodney Brenton, 92, passed away Sunday, Febru- ary 3, 2019, in Petersburg. He was born May 3, 1926, in Petersburg, to Edgar and Gracie "Tooley" Brenton. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a lineman for PSI Energy. He is survived by his son, Danny (Sue) Bren- ton; grandchildren, Jenni- fer (Rick) Case, Christy (Patrick) McCormick, Tony Brenton, Gena (Danny) Hale and John Southerland; and several great-grandchildren. He waspreceded in death by his wife, Roma Lee "Hensley" Brenton; son, Da- vid Brenton; and his parents. Services will be at 1 p.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Harris Funeral Home. WILLIAM "WILL" WILKINS William "Will" Wilkins, 16, passed away on January 28, 2019, at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on December 6, 2002, in Paducah, Ky., to William "Woody" Wilkins and Shelly Lawson. He was a student at Pike Central High School and a cadet for the Patoka Town- ship and Union Communi- ty Fire Departments. He loved wrestling and playing football for the Pike Central Chargers. He is survived by his par- ents, Woody Wilkins and Shelly Lawson; brothers, Jer- emy Wilkins, Noah Wilkins and Jeremy Langston; sis- ters, Amber Wilkins and Katelyn Roberts; grandpar- ents, Tosha and Gerald Law- son; and great-grandmother, Ann Lawson. "Glen" Hayes, 61, passed away at 12:17 p.m. on January 31, 2019, at Dea- coness Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born on April 2, 1957, in Jasper, the son of Jimmie F. and Vonda Hayes, of Petersburg. He was a heavy equip- ment operator. He loved fish- ing, working on hot rod cars and even raced in his young- er days. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Ea- gles in Washington. He is survived by his wife, Tammy "Moe" Hayes, of Washington; parents, Jim- mie F. and Vonda Hayes, of Petersburg; children, Jer- emy Bell, of Petersburg, Scott Shoultz, of Indianapo- lis, Chris Hayes, of Washing- ton, and Jimmie K. CHERYL LYNN (DEADMOND) HEIPLE Cheryl Lynn (Deadmond) Heiple, 70, of Evansville, passed away on Wednes- day, January 30, 2019, at So- larbron Terrace. She was born in Salem, Ill., on February 17, 1948. She grew up in Gibson County, and later lived in both Pike County and Flori- da. She spent her retirement years in Evansville. She was a caring nurse and owned several resale shops. She loved her cat, Pumpkin, and she loved go- ing to the beach, where she could enjoy the warm weath- er. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Glen) Gill, of Evansville; son, Mark ( Jy- oti) Heiple, of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Fred Deadmond; and five granddaughters. DEMMA K AY HAVENS Demma Kay Havens went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2019. HUGHES John E. Hughes, 73, of Oakland City, entered rest on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his home. He was born on Dec. 2, 1945, in Oakland City, to Bill E. and Norma Jean ( Young) Hughes. He retired after working several years at Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville. He is survived by his son, David Hughes, of Oakland City; stepchildren, Frank (Carrie) C. He was born July 7, 1938, in Petersburg, the son of the late Joseph P. Boller and Bet- te Veeck Boller McIlwain. He received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and master's de- gree from Clemson Univer- sity. He was a retired major from the United States Ma- rine Corp. He was a member of the New Bern York Rite Masonic Body and the Ac- ca Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Oconee County Chapter of the GP- PA and was past president of the Pendleton District Gem and Mineral Society. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lu- theran Church. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Clardy Boller; one son, Lawrence Joseph Boller, Jr.; two daughters, Lorilee Joan Harrell and Leanna Joy Sanborn; nine grandchildren; and three brothers, Joseph P. He was born October 7, 1934, in Bicknell, the son of John and Julia ( Wollerman) Strain. He married Elzena Joyce Blaize on September 3, 1989. He was a maintenance me- chanic. He was also a pastor and led the Francisco Naza- rene Church and the Mt. Ol- ive Baptist Church. He was a member of the Petersburg Nazarene Church. He is survived by his wife, Elzena Strain, of Pe- tersburg; son, Timothy (Becky) Strain, of Bicknell; daughter, Deborah (Lar- ry) Knight; stepsons, Jef- frey (Rose) Blaize, of Knob Noster, Mo., and Jason (Kar- en) Blaize, of Tolar, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
