Outdoor Truths LivingByFaithPage ads@thesmtrader.com Living by Living by Living by I'm always excited about the times I get to go on an extended hunting trip. The expecta- tions are always high and the opportunity to go with a friend makes the miles pass quickly and the laughs come in abundance. I go on a couple of these trips each year. They are usually at a time when the weather can be nasty and cold. Those hunts offer special challenges, and hours in the tree stand make nights in a warm bed even more comfortable. By the last days however, my mind begins drifting toward home. I get tired of fighting the elements, tired of battling my bodies urge to stay in bed, and tired of being away from my family whom I love. I just want to go home. As I reflect on my desire to leave, I am reminded of a lesson I learned earlier in life – one that helped me understand more about death and dying. Over the years I have stood at the bedside of many of the elderly who were sick and dying. Many of them were battling all sorts of illness or disease. Instead of continuing to fight, their desire was simple. They wanted to go home. Not to the brick and mortar earthly dwelling, but to their heavenly home. As a young man I never under- stood why anyone would trade life for death. As an older man, now I do. It was not these men and women wished to cease to live, but it was that they wished to live in a better place; one that prom- ised a new body and where most of their loved ones were waiting. It was sort of like my hunting trips. It was not that I did not love to deer hunt, but when it came right down to it, what I really loved more than anything was at home. Not only could I be with the ones I loved, I could do it without facing the battles that I was looking at right now. You may have an elderly loved one who is fighting a battle of sickness. You may think they have lost Gary has three books that are compilations of the articles he has written for nearly 15 years. Stop lying Christian New Year's Resolutions usually go more than traditional New Year's Resolutions. But is it too soon to start a brand new year? We always tend to make New Year's Resolutions to stop doing something or to start doing something. Do you have to wait until the start of the new year to begin them? Not all of us make these or even keep what we set out to do. But maybe making realistic ones can help us finish them. Christian New Year's Resolutions First of all you must know the total number books of the Bible. If you do not know the answer to that, then the answer is 66. Take the number of the books of Bible. Subtract your age (the age that you will be in 2019 – Or in the the current year we are in) Add 53 (this will change based on the year, see below) Did you get the year you were born in? One thing to note, I noticed it must be the age you will be in 2019, not your current age, so if you haven't had your birthday yet, put how old you will be on your birthday in 2019. I wanted to try this. How about someone 2 years old or so. Take 66 minus 2. That is 64. We add 53 and get 117. So now you see we have a three digit number instead of a two digit. Submit Your Churchor Ministry Events/News their desire to live. For a Christian, that is far from the truth. They have not lost their desire to live, only their desire to do it here. Remember that God always heals. Sometimes He does it here and sometimes He does it in Heaven. January January 2019 Sunday Services 1st Service at 9:00 A.M. 2nd Service at 10:30 A.M. Maybe as Christians we should start to rethink some of our New Years Resolutions and make some more Christ-like resolutions? Some of us may need reminders to keep the resolutions. Do we need a rubber band on our wrist? Maybe a note taped to the bathroom mirror? Alarms set on our phone? If we pray for guidance from God to keep what He wants us to do, we can do it. We can only do it through Christ, not on our own. We do not have to wait for New Years to start living right for God. We should be living daily for God, not every now and then. Not just around Holy Holidays like Christmas or Easter. Or even just on Sundays. But Daily! We shouldn't say I am going to clean myself up then do it. We must go to God as we are and He will clean us up. The new creation, the change is only done through Jesus, we cannot do it on our own! So why wait? Remember we are never promised tomorrow. So best time to do it is right now! Find Your Birth Year Using the Number of Books in the Bible There are 66 Books in the Bible. Subtract the age you are this year. MATH AREA Add 53 to that number. * Did you get the year you were born? * This number will change based on the current year. (This graphic is for 2019) For more details and how to adjust the number to add based on what year it is.
