Postcards this week at Sweets Column Winslow, IN 47598 there was one in the ole mailbox. Postcard # 655 has a pic- ture of a pistol in various sizes, a rifle being held by a young lad with red hair, a white shirt, and a red sleeve- less sweater, and lots of box- es and other related items that "The Daisy Airgun Mu- seum" has in Rogers, Ark. in the his- toric downtown. On the back reads Daisy Airgun Museum History you grew up with…Walk through the amaz- ing history of this company and even purchase limited edition collectible air- guns available exclusively at the mu- seum. "Hi Sweets, We came out to North- west, Ark. for the National Young Farmers Convention. We stopped by here to check it out. At one time all of the Daisy B.B. guns were made here, now about half of them are. It was neat. Max and Rex Carlisle Stendal, IN." Thank you Max and Rex for post- card # 655 of the Daisy Airgun Muse- um. I have heard of the Daisy Airgun but have never seen one before or knew of anyone who had one. It must have been a great place to visit and see the many Daisy items. Winslow Patoka River has gone down, but again we have had some rain, about an inch, so the river may come up a bit. Most of the Christmas deco- rations have been put away for anoth- er year, but not all of them around the area, and they look great on a gloomy day. The lights brighten up the mood. Around the weeks of Christmas you may have seen the many 65 coats ei- ther sitting on the benches, wrapping their arms around poles, signs, or trees and they were a big hit for those who needed a coat for those drops in temps. There were only four left. Those four coats plus more coats, hats, and gloves will be wrapped again next December for those who need them. We hope your New Year of 2019 was not too hung over with all the parties that were going on. Norm and I start- ed our party around 1 p.m. December 31. We also decided to fix our cabbage and ham so we could have that bite of cabbage to start off the year with prosperity. Then on New Year's Day we also had our black eyed peas. In our neck of the woods as we partied at the cabin, we noticed that at mid- night some of our neigh- bors spent the New Year home also. This year not too many areas celebrated, but what we heard was from Ayrshire, another fam- ily in Brownstown, and us. I guess ev- eryone else in town was asleep. The New Year has started with our elected stars being sworn-in for their jobs like Stacy Worthington for Winslow Clerk-Treasurer on Fri - day, December 27 by Judge Jeff Bi- esterveld. Then on Wednesday, Jan- uary 2 our new Town Council Debra Lamb, Josh Popp, and Richard Brew- ster were sworn-in by Clerk–Treasur- er Stacy Worthington. Congrats to all our elected stars, and we wish that the months and years ahead are enjoyable as you try to handle all the problems that go along with the job. Know that these are many stars to help you and you are not alone. Norm and I got our exercise again when we went out to our wood guy and got another truck load. Then as we got home unloading began and the wheel- barrow was in use again. I have a bad feeling that the yard will never dry up until late spring or the freezing temps begin, and I like the temps we have now, in the 40s. Did you know that in 2019 the Chi- nese New Year is the Year of the Pig? It will soon be time to celebrate and eat at your favorite restaurant. As the lights begin to dim on this week's ramblings, keep an eye on fam- ily and friends, slow down, and en- joy your area. Be kind to others and don't be rude. Say something to bring a smile on their face; it's not nice to always be a person no one wants to be around. Then as I will always say smile, wave, and say Hi to everyone you see this week. Main, Petersburg BOYD REALTY & DEVELOPMENT LLC 812-354-8893 SIAR inside the netted home so we might watch the won- der of the butterflies hatch- ing. But be careful, because the slightest breeze could make a chrysalis fall, caus- ing the butterfly to die inside and possibly ooze out some- thing referred to as "black death" on butterfly websites. That would make the whole house smell, and your tod- dler would hate you forever. Naturally, the lid was nearly impossible to remove, so those babies were rock- ing, rolling and clinging for dear life as I pried the lid off, teeth gritted, cursing Jolly Old St. Nicholas for going back on our voucher plan. Once the lid was free, I was to place it inside the net- ted butterfly home, careful not to rattle them in any way. All well and good, except the lid only unzips halfway. De- spite my having lanky gi- raffe arms, the impossible angle at which the incubat- ed butterflies had to be low- ered and propped up meant their sojourn was certainly less than graceful. A fter I zipped them inside their home, I saw that I was instructed to leave them un- touched, at a perfect 70 de- grees, with no draft or move- ment for the next two weeks. Daily, my 3-year-old asks to see them, touch them, play with them. One chrysalis has already fallen. If not one of these but- terflies makes it out alive, Santa's getting a letter next year that will surely get me placed on the naughty list. Like Katiedid on Facebook at facebook.com/katiedidhumor.
