Union Community Church SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10 5-8pm (EST) • 4-7pm (CST) Thanks in advance for your support! suggested donations $ 5 per Adult $ 10 for Families Money raised will go to help purchase a Jaws of Life for the fire dpartment. 3082 North CR 850 W., Hazleton, IN 47640 Nazarene Methodist we need to be led and nur- tured by a shepherd and our shepherd is God. The shepherds of Jesus' day of- ten paid one-on-one atten- tion to each member of his flock caring for wounds and offering soothing relief for them. The shepherds knew their flocks and would of- ten lead them to peaceful surroundings where they would feel at ease and get rest from their day of trav- eling. The shepherd knew he could rest if his flock felt secure. Doesn't this sound like God caring for His chil- dren. There are many more lessons found in this beau- tiful Psalm but this should inspire you to pick up your Bible and read the the Psalm for yourself and reap what God tells you in it. Well I pray you have a week where you can see dangers lessened by think- ing before doing danger- ous acts, and that you read Psalm 23 to reap some of God's goodness. "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God for- bid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein" (Romans 6:1-2)? Many look at sin as an er- ror, a mistake, a blunder, a weakness; but God looks at it as a dark, loathsome, dread- ful thing- -the atonement for which took the blood of His Son. That is God's estimate of sin. If God could help us to see that every sin- -little sin, popular sin, and all other sin- -cost the life of His Son, we would see not only God's estimation of sin, but God's uncompromising attitude to- ward sin. God will not compromise, and Calvary shows us that He won't. Sin must be done away with in its entirety- -not one bit left. It would appear that if anything would cause God to let one bit of sin go unno- ticed, it would have been to spare the life of His Son; but no, God was willing to give His Son to die. Do we really think that the Almighty God is going to overlook one lit- tle bit of sin in us? Will He excuse what is covered? Will He want to have fellowship with those that harbor sin in their heart and life when He turned His face from His own Son who became sin for us? Do we think we can glib- ly and lightly testify of be- longing to God and walking with Him when there is sin in our life? In the words of the Apostle Paul, "God forbid! Scripture reading: Mat- thew 28:18 -20. Theme Statement: The purpose of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transforma- tion of the world. Becoming a member of the church does not make a person a disciple of Christ, but it can be a good first step in the right direc- tion. "We hope to strengthen our own understanding of the Gospel, and to grow in faith and commitments to God's service." (This is the last sen- tence of the Petersburg First U.M.C. vision statement). There are three ways we experience the meaning of membership. 1. Pursue a personal rela- tionship with God. 2. Participate in the minis- tries of the church. 3. Prioritize corporate wor- ship into each week. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 E. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. We are called to make peace, to for- give, to be generous, and to love so that others will come to know our God of unfailing love. ( John 3:16). This is the day that the Lord has made. Our doors are always open to you. Something to think about: A fter a family sat down for breakfast, the father of- fered his standard prayer of thanks. A fterward, though, he began his usual grum- bling about financial hard- ships, the food's poor qual- ity, how it was cooked and so on. One of his children interrupted: "Dad, did God hear what you said a while ago when you were giving thanks? " "Certainly," the father re- plied confidently. "And did he hear what you just said about the bacon and the coffee? " "Of course," the father said, more hesitantly. "Which did God believe? " Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
