The Press-Dispatch Local Wednesday, November 7, 2018 A- 11 PAID FOR BY THE COMMITTEE TO ELECT JOHNSON FOR SHERIFF, JEREMY BRITTON, TREASURER To my friends, family, and the citizens of Pike County, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came out to vote in this year's General Election. We had an outstanding turnout! I would also like to express my deepest thanks to everyone who voted for, worked for, and supported me in the campaign. I feel humbled and honored to be able to serve as Pike County Sheriff. I will continue to work hard as the Chief Deputy until my term as sheriff begins. This is an exciting time for myself and my family, and I truly appreciate all the support that I have received. Again, please accept my heartfelt thanks for the continued support through the election! Sincerely, Kent Johnson I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all of those that helped with the 2018 General Election. ere are so many behind the scenes things that have to happen to make elections successful. e Clerk's office begins the preparation for elections months in advance. is was my first General Election as Clerk of Pike County and I am grateful for the dedicated staff that I work with on a daily basis to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. A huge thank you goes out to Jenny Def- fendoll for taking on the role of Election Deputy. She took on learning the ins and outs of Indiana Election procedures and working closely with the Indiana Election Division. Jenny did a great job of dealing with and answering questions for the candidates. She and Amy Hook worked very hard to ensure that reports were done correctly and on time, finding and training poll workers, and assist- ing the absentee and travel board members. ank you to the County Election Board, Absentee Board, Travel Board and Receiving Team. ank you also to Connor, Cody and Colton for helping Saturday morning and Tuesday evening; and Brenda, Lexi, Stacy, Jackie and Tailor for their time on Tuesday evening. ank you also to the members of the political parties that assisted with finding poll workers and applications for early voting. Lastly, thank you to all the poll workers for spending their Election Day working at the various polling locations throughout the county. I appreciate all the time and dedication that all of you have spent making sure this was a successful election. Lana Griffith, Thank You Pike County Clerk Paid for by Lana Griffith Some of the early arrivals at the Trunk or Treat in Winslow were, left to right: Whitney Norris, Emma Melvin, Reid McCandless, Dravin Harrison, Aydna Harrison, Riley Booner and Aleah Gist. When asked to line up at the wall for judging, not all costumed characters decided to line up, but dozens wanted the chance to win. Dozens of youngsters turned out for the Trunk or Treat in Winslow and al- so stood against the wall for judging. Crowds of Halloween characters gathered around trunks that offered candy and other treats this past Tuesday night in Winslow. WINSLOW TRUNK OR TREAT
