Finding Your Way With thousands of cars plying Interstate 5 through Red Bluff and Corning every day, Tehama County is undertaking a branding effort to attract visitors and new residents to the community. While most of the projects are still in the planning stages, Corning has forged ahead with a new town logo that sits atop recently installed wayfinding signs that help visitors find the sites and activities Corning has to offer. As the city's street signs are replaced, new ones will sport an olive logo to further cement the city's reputation as The Olive City. Corning Skate Park One of the sites visitors will want to stop for in coming years is the planned Corning Skate and Bike Park. In addition to the 1,800square-foot skate park will integrate bicycle use and include a spectator area. The rest of the 18-acre park will offer an amphitheater, soccer fields, basketball court, barbecue area and playground. The park will be situated in the southwest section of Corning along the east side of Toomes Avenue at the northwest corner of Fig Lane. Naturally divided by Jewett Creek, the park is likely to attract those looking for nature trails and a quiet place for a picnic. Construction went to bid in late 2011 and construction is expected to begin in 2013. In the meantime, a temporary skate facility is in the works. The Corning Skate and Bike 8 Corning 2013 Wayfinding signs were recently installed at the entrance to Corning to assists visitors in finding points of interest and information. Park Association is driving fundraising efforts and lobbied for passage of the park proposal since 2009 as way to provide safe, healthy activities for youth.
