Two arrested for OVWI By Andy Heuring A Jasper man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxi- cated and possession of meth af- ter he crashed into a guard rail on Highway 356 near CR 475 N. at the edge of Alford. He was one of two people to be arrested on operating a vehicle while intoxicated charg- es last week. Roger Hutchinson, 39, of Jasper, was arrested by Pike County Dep- uty Buck Seger. Deputy Seger said he and Depu- ty Jason McKinney, as well as Pe- tersburg Cpl. Jared Simmons, re- sponded to a report of a car, with a possible intoxicated driver, hit- ting a guard rail. When they arrived, Deputy Seger said officers talked with Hutchinson and immediately no- ticed the smell of alcohol. He add- ed Hutchinson was stumbling when walking around his vehicle. Hutchinson told police a deer had run in front of him, but admit- ted drinking four or five beers an hour earlier. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.12 percent for blood alcohol content. The legal limit is 0.08 percent in Indiana. According to Deputy Seger's report, when police conducted an inventory of Hutchinson's vehicle, they found a broken glass smok- ing pipe with a black residue in it. The residue field tested positive for meth. He was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while in- toxicated, possession of meth and possession of paraphernalia. A Winslow woman was arrest- ed on Tuesday, July 6 after police saw her drive across the fog line on the side of the road near Illinois St. Theresa Kay Perry, 52, of 414 W. Factory St., Winslow, was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior. Pike County Deputy Paul Col- lier said he stopped Perry, who turned into the Petersburg Hard- ware parking at 6:46 p.m., and no- ticed her license plate was expired. He said as he walked up to the driver's side door to talk to Perry, she yelled, "What'd you pull me over for? " Deputy Collier said while he talked with Perry, he noticed her speech was rapid and slurred. He said when he questioned her about a pill container, she became belligerent and began videoing the stop with her cellphone. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Daviess Com- munity Hospital, where she tested positive for amphetamines and tri- cyclic antidepressants. She was then taken to the Pike County Jail. PUZZLED ABOUT WHAT TO READ? ..and you will have your solution. subscribe to 812-354-8500
